This pipe then connects with a sewer pipe or with a bigger one that runs underneath the road.

This sewer then flows into a network of other pipes that carry the discharged waste to a sewage treatment plant, where it begins cleaning procedures. After the first stage of our cleaning procedure, we clean the wastewater. Grit is often found in wastewater. At this stage, the water still contains solid matter, so we separate it by putting the wastewater in settling tanks that encourage the solids to sink to the bottom and accumulate there as sludge. After removing the sludge, at the next level we focus on the unseen bacteria that dwell in the wastewater. We pump in oxygen for the bugs to break them down. This leads to multiple bacteria taking over. The wastewater is then passed through to a final settling tank. At this point, the collected sludge is recycled for agricultural purposes while the remainder is used to create energy through several different methods.
